    The Department of Defence and Strategic Studies was established in the 1982. Department offers various Subject Combination in Bachelor of Arts. Department offers B.A(Hons) in defence started for B.A IInd and B.A IIIrd year classes. Strategic studies is an interdisciplinary academic field centred on the study of conflict and peace strategies, often devoting special attention to the relationship between international politics, geostrategic, international diplomacy, international economics, and military power.

    SCOPE OF DEFENSE AND STRATEGIC STUDIES

    • The undergraduate programme of Defence and Strategic Studies is multidisciplinary and international in its course content. It provides students with the hindsight of the impact caused by the use of force by states and non-state actors.
    • They are further rendered to an in-depth analysis of the historical facets of war, transnational terrorism and different causes of the contemporary military events and political issues that are taking place every day in the multilateral, unpredictable world around us.
    • It further provides the broad field domestic as well as international and cultural ideological factors within which nation-state (a cultural and political entity) and non-state actors interact. 

    For developing an understanding of the Indian Armed Forces, Defense Organization and its establishment’s structure, Military History, and National Security; the undergraduate students are provided with the generous attention of the teachers in theoretical classes and practical tests.

    CAREER OPTIONS FOR DEFENCE AND STRATEGIC STUDIES STUDENTS

    Most of the undergraduate students preferred choice remains active service in armed forces and paramilitary forces.  However, the area of Defence & Strategic Affairs also provides excellent opportunities to the undergraduate students to pursue a bright career in higher academics such as MA, M.Phil., or Ph.D. After the successful completion of higher studies, they can start a career in academics as Assistant Professor or choose research as an occupation in the fields like International Relations, Geostrategic, Geopolitical socio-economic etc. Institute for Defence Studies and Analysis (IDSA), New Delhi provides excellent opportunities for the students of defence studies to become Research assistants, Research Associates and Research Fellows.     Paper-I : PHYSICAL GEOGRAPHY-I : Geomorphology The course aims to familiarize the students with the fundamental concepts in physical geography, essentially geomorphology.

    Cartography- Objective: • To introduce the concept of maps and relevance of maps in Geography. • To explain the elements of Map (Scale and Orientation) and steps in Map making. • To introduce relief representation.

    Paper-III: PHYSICAL GEOGRAPHY-II: Climatology & Oceanography-Objectives: • To acquaint the students with the elements and attributes of climatology and oceanography • To underscore the role of climate in human life • To emphasize the significance of oceans within the global environmental system

    The student learns discipline from studying history. By participating in subject seminars, group discussions, quizzes and by submitting assignments and visiting different historical sites and museums they acquired practical knowledge which helps them significantly to develop in the subject.

    By studying history the students entered into different walks of life such as Administrative career, education, Museum, Archives, Tourism etc. History is almost a compulsory segment of any competition for job.

    Some of the outgoing students become IAS, PCS after qualifying respective examinations. Some joined as Assistant professors in different colleges and universities.

    Many students after passing Post graduation from our college in History qualified UGC-NET and also NET-JRF. Some of the students are pursuing Research in History.

    After passing Post graduation students have also other job opportunities in different sectors such as Archaeology, Musicology, Archival Studies, and Tourism etc.

    After Graduation and Post Graduation the students come to know with historical knowledge about different national and international events and incidents.

    History with its emphasis in understanding the socio-cultural background of a given community provides the students a solid foundation of individual identity.

    Comparative study of different societies and communities brings among the students a sense to appreciate and respect other communities. The students are taught by history to enhance tolerance towards other communities.

    History deals with ever changing dynamics and hence, the student learns from history the principle of adaptability and adjustment. With the knowledge of history and with the principle of adaptability, which is a lesson of history, the students can adjust and manage with any given situation and time.
